The One World Project
When the Maori first came to New Zealand there was an enormous bird there called the Moa. This is a full size model of one. But it was a bird that didn’t fly and so it was easy to catch.

Sadly the Maori caught too many and the bird became extinct. Extinct means that there were none left.

The Maori didn’t realise but even today we hunt animals that are nearly extinct. Some bears are like that. We should be careful.
